Alternate History fiction is a genre containing many sub-genres and overlapping into other areas. The books listed on this page are those whose primary focus is alternate history. Some feature displacement, where a character wakes up in a different timeline, others start with the familiar and move into the far future, which might be seen as science fiction. Other feature fanciful inventions, which might be an element of science fiction, but are set soundly within an alternate history millieu.
